Reference Management Programmes
Reference management programmes help you to prepare the literature you have found for use in your own academic work. It is advisable to work with a reference management programme, especially for more extensive academic work that extends over a longer period of time.
Reference managers can do this:
- Search in various library catalogues and databases using the program interface
- Transfer search results from the catalogues and databases to your project
- Create bibliographies
- Collect citations or excerpts from the sources and insert them at any point in your own work
- Content indexing of the literature found, for example by assigning it to individual chapters of your own scientific work or by indexing it with descriptors you have assigned yourself
- Possibility of commenting on your own evaluation of the literature
- Save work tasks ( for example, borrowing/renewing the following books the next time you visit the library; returning interlibrary loans or ordering them via interlibrary loan, etc.)
- Output different citation styles.
