Since 1995, the “Day of Libraries” has been celebrated throughout Germany on October 24, which was initiated by former German President Richard von Weizsäcker. Every year, the “Day of Libraries” draws attention to the more than 9,000 libraries in Germany, arousing interest and offering a wide range of activities. Since its introduction, many libraries have held a variety of events to highlight the various services provided by libraries as indispensable cultural and educational institutions.
