This could have been the motto of the day on October 16, 1974. Because on that day, the holdings and staff of the RUB's central university library moved into their then brand-new - now listed - building.

Since then, a lot has happened in and around the building, as we continue to work on making the university library a place of learning, encounter and culture. Some things (e.g. our striking central staircase) are still easily recognizable even after half a century.

The colleagues at the RUB University Archive have uncovered one or two contemporary historical treasures in their collections and made impressions of the planning and early days of the UB building accessible to us.
Incidentally, Bochum University Library was already 12 years old at the time of this move.
