After a coronavirus-induced slump in usage figures, Bochum University Library is once again on track to record 1 million accesses per year. In 2024, this mark was only just missed.
The great popularity of the university library as a place to learn and meet is due to a number of factors. In addition to the very good facilities in the study areas, which were further improved in 2024 with seven new glass think tanks for group work and the installation of video technology in group work rooms, the good range of media, the changing exhibitions, which are also aimed at visitors to the city, and the wide range of advice and courses offered by the University Library and the writing café certainly also contribute to the great popularity.
Unfortunately, the otherwise positive atmosphere is currently being spoiled by extensive fire protection renovation measures. As a small consolation, however, the outdoor furniture on the covered south-facing terrace with picnic tables and loungers will soon be installed and will certainly become a highlight of the coming warm months.
We look forward to your visit!
