Access to E-resources

RUB students and staff

  • You can access e-books, e-journals and databases in the RUB network or from home via VPN.
  • It is also possible to log into the RUB network on campus via eduroam or to use the permanently installed PC workstations in the staircase of the University Library.
  • Some publishers offer access via Shibboleth in addition to the VPN tunnel.

UAR students

  • It is possible to log into the RUB network on campus via eduroam
  • You can also use the permanently installed PC workstations in the staircase of the University Library. You will need a LoginID, which you can obtain from the information/service desk.

External users

  • You can use the permanently installed PC workstations in the staircase of the University Library. You will need a LoginID, which you can obtain from the information/service desk.

Terms of use for electronic offers

The following regulations apply to the use of fee-based or licensed services:

  • Access to the full texts is only permitted to members of Ruhr-University Bochum and registered external users of the University Library.
  • The full texts of the articles may only be saved for personal use and for research purposes.
  • Systematic downloading of articles or search results, in particular by robots, is prohibited.
  • Articles or other electronic resources may not be passed on to third parties or used commercially, either electronically or in printed form.
