In summer 2022, Ukrainian students of German philology and translation studies were asked to present their favorite word from the Ukrainian language and explain why they chose it. This took place as part of the DAAD-funded partnership between German Studies institutes at Ruhr University Bochum and Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv.
The resulting texts are full of poetry and beauty, reflecting the sound and meaning of the Ukrainian language. They show how the young Ukrainian generation perceives its culture, history and identity and give an insight into the turbulent soul of a nation fighting for its freedom.
A total of seventy articles written in German have been published online / Open Access in a book of the same name and are now being presented to the general public in the staircase of the university library.
The exhibition can be seen during regular opening hours.
Admission is free.
