Pre-registration for the library account

Residents of North Rhine-Westphalia can use the services of Bochum University Library for professional or personal information and further education. You need a LoginID to register in the library system and to borrow media with the free app “RUB Bib”.

Here you have the possibility to register in advance for the creation of a LoginID:

Please then come to the information/service desk of the University Library. Please note our service hours!
To identify yourself, please bring the following documents with you:

- Private individuals over 18: a valid identity card or passport with a registration certificate (residents' registration office)
- Young people under 18: a valid identity card or passport with a registration certificate (residents' registration office); a declaration of consent signed by a legal guardian and their valid identity card or passport.

Information on data protection

The above-mentioned personal data is collected and processed by Bochum University Library in order to create a library account in the RUB library system (via the IdM-ALMA tool). This is done on the basis of Art. 6, para. 1, lit. e (GDPR) and on the basis of the statutes of Bochum University Library (07.01.2004), in particular § 5, para. 1. The data will be deleted as soon as the login ID for the library account has been created. To do this, you must present yourself in person at the library to identify yourself (identity card or passport and city registration certificate). Within Bochum University Library, the data will only be transmitted to persons who are responsible for issuing library accounts. Within RUB, the data is transferred to the university's central IdM. It is not passed on outside RUB.
